The following entries are from the DLD tour diary. Each band members entry is identified by the following: J: Jack Plug, F: Frank Art, A: AliMac and R: James Sherry!

May 25th, 94, The hippo Club, Cardiff.
Compulsion, DLD.
Zac:DLD played well, very punk set, stayed with a load of Gnarly (?) Welsh punks who insisted on trashing their living room. Cool some guy got murdered.Cool. Punk Fuckin’ Rock R: All in all, a great night. We played a tight set and Compulsion were really fun to watch. After a few failed attempts at getting some place to stay, we ended up at the punkest house in Cardiff and HOT KNIFED into oblivion..... Young Punk+Skint tour ‘94’!!

May 26th, 94, The Marina , Swansea.
Compulsion, DLD and Gouge.
J:Big place, semi full. Gouge were pretty cool. Alluring haircuts. “Rock Star” was a good tune. Ali got Marika’s phone number. Had a good chat w/Compulsion. The place smelled really funny in there. The promoter gave us a good rider and fish+chips!
A journo/photographer got mugged and had a cut head. We nursed him back to health w/spliffs and beer.

May27th, 94, The Lomax, Liverpool.
Compulsion, DLD.
J: “Calm down., Calm down”. We started having a really good time w/Compulsion. DLD/Compulsion football game(they won) Jack Plug got a black eye slamming w/Compulsion. Glenn got bruised knees, AliMac went crowd surfing. Joey up to the top balcony.
Sid did a good Snoop Doggy Dog impression....it was pretty fun. Sound was good. Crowd was good. Rider w/beer but we had to buy our own burgers. Someone ate James’s burger.

May 28th, 94, The Old Trout, Windsor.
Compulsion, DLD.
J:Good sound, big place, good crowd. Garett’s wife was there-man she sounds funny. AliMac landed on Glenn’s head towards the end of the gig. We had to get to the gig in cars, because the Moonbus broke down(surprise, surprise). Edward bought us all a beer. Dan took a liking to Ali’s sister. Compulsion took all our gear with them, on account of the busted Moonbus. Interviewed with some dude in the toilet!

May 29th 94, The Forum, Tunbridge Wells.
Line up: Compulsion, Scream Window, and DLD.
J: We had a good game of pseudo baseball w/ Compulsion and Melissa (Garett’s wife) The support band were Scream Window, who were James’s former boss’s son’s band. We played a decent gig with some moshers. The venue used to be a toilet but had pretty good sound anyway. Afterwards a journalist named Enoch (I think) was interviewing Compulsion and JP totally barged in and ended up talking to her for about a half an hour-including a breakfast interview offer. Glenn asked Bij if he could chin him and Bij said yes, so Glenn decked him!

June 1st 94, Rock City, Nottingham.
Line up: Compulsion, DLD.
J: Zombie audience, Ali was out of tune, Bij + Ali Played some footie. Backstage atmosphere was pretty tame. We stole a mic stand when we left. Compulsion had some really cool cartoons!

June 2nd 94, Moles Club, Bath.
Line up: DLD
J: Compulsion pulled out because Sid’s mom was taken ill. Compulsion had been lending us drums and bass amp, so we had to scrounge some stuff before playing. On the backstage wall was written “Marika is a sexual pervert” much to Ali’s delight. The promoter was chatting Bij up all night. We played “Mall Monarchy” to appease the crowd and got them slamming like zebras. We got a decent meal, but, like right before we played. The DJ played that “ Combine Harvester” song that Ali brought from home. Jack Plug smashed up a mini-acoustic guitar-the crowd was knocking mic-stands over, all over the place.

June 3rd 94, The Square, Harlow.
Support: Goober Patrol.
J: Complete carnage at the end. Nick and Nathan introduced the band with a Beavis and Butthead impression, Jack Plug had the neck of yesterdays acoustic taped to his Ibanez to create a double neck look. Unfortunately a string broke in the 1st song , so I had to use an out of tune ESP, that wasn’t working so JP resorts to the “Just vocals” method. Mosh pit was pretty outrageous. Some dude threw up all over the table in front of him-gross. At the end of the gig almost everything was trashed and Nick kept shouting for an encore(into the mic) So we gathered all the stuff………………..

July 1st 94, The Powerhaus, London.
Support: Wasp Factory, Aniseed.
R: There are those in tonight’s rammed (thanx to NOFX) audience tonight who think we ROCK! Little do they know we SUCK! J: Ali lost his bottom jaw when he was told that Liza was getting married. We tried 6 new songs tonight. Richard said to Ali, “Liza has something to tell you”. Ali not liking the tone of Richard’s voice, figured it was, like, she’s pregnant or something. Whoa! Overall the set was a bit on the slow side. Jacks voice was giving out-pretty poor overall, I thought. Good crowd though. We got pasta with salad+bread+tomato sauce about 5 minutes before we went on.

July 15th 94, The Venue, London.
Line up: GirlsvBoys, DLD.
J: Jack Plug had a good night. American female introduced us. Good beer rider. Promoter was friendly. Glenn kicked Ali over. JP did the taped nipples thing-“It felt good”. Zac got GsvBs bassist really stoned right before they went on, and David Yow who was roadie-ing for GsvBs. He threw up all over the backstage. JP got really baked and left his bag behind with the master DAT of the album,…..and the back-up. Fortunately the other band picked it up, (Phew!). Needless to say the other band and their tour manager knew James!

July 16th 94, The Phoenix Festival, Long Marston Airfield.
J: Decent drinks rider. Played really early,(1:00am) Wow! Shellac were really good. JP ate w/Pete Shelly out of the Buzzcocks. The food was good and well served in a white tent w/flowers on the table and shit!

July 18th 94, the Arts Centre, Norwich.
Line Up: ?, Goober Patrol, Tokyo Sex Whale, DLD.
J: Boomy sound in this old church . (“Happy” said the otter to his underwater friend) We got money as a food rider. There were 3 bands on apart from us. (“Why’s that” he was asked in return) The first band had a drum machine and sucked, 2 was Goober Patrol re-incarnated slightly less cool, 3- Tokyo Sex Whale had a good vocalist and weren’t bad overall. ( “I just am! OK?” Otter was no longer quite so happy) During our show we had a drum mic fall apart after the 1st song due to the Shadow’s destructive drumming technique. Jack tried to lean over on a stage monitor during “Trenchmouth” (after his guitar had broken string-doing hand-held vocals). The monitor went with the flow and toppled offstage with him, much to everyone’s surprise. (“But why” asked his impetulant friend)!

August 5th 94, Victoria football club, Northwich.
Line up: DLD, State of Kate.
J: Lauren is definitely Gnarley. We showed up at this football club’s function hall in good time-enough time for Jack and the Shadow to go off and get something to eat. Jacket potato and beans for Jack-pretty good too. After soundcheck (which sucked) we went back to Lauren and Joolz’s place, with Lauren. We knocked up the set list there (and wrote it on Glenn’s back). Then returning to the venue to check Out State of Kate couldn’t help but notice the sound sucked. The place was pretty full, but all the kid’s were sitting along the sides ignoring the band. Oh except for 8-10 nutters slamming in the front. State of Kate threw T-shirts out and JP caught one and wore it onstage. Sound onstage was horrible. JP lost his voice-Glenn couldn’t hear himself. We went back w/Joolz+Lauren afterwards for pizza, battleships, etcha-sketch and talk. Bij, Dan and Zac were along too. Photo’s and bundles, human surfing, Tony the goldfish, “Get to fuck you shower of cunts”. Some bastard stole my State of Kate T-shirt!
