The following entries are from the DLD tour diary. Each band members entry is identified by the following: J: Jack Plug, F: Frank Art, A: AliMac and R: James Sherry!

August 11th, 94 The Princess Charlotte, Leicester.
Line up: Velocity girl, DLD.
J: V.G. were friendly but didn't really rock. They're a good wind down band. Very poppy. Jane sold record breaking merchandise: 15 CDs and 5 T-shirts. That could have been because we didn't really suck. The sound was good and the crowd was ample and ripe. Jack was plagued with technical problems, starting with a string break, then a spare guitar too low, then the strap coming undone, then finally the cable coming out at the end of the set. R: Good start to the "Getting the fuck out of England"tour. Jack Plug confessed to actually enjoying the gig, so it must have been awesome. I didn't really notice. My blister was hurting, and it's on my most important finger. A: A woman from a pirate radio station gave us 4 cans of lager as a payment/appreciation gesture. The day, of we got 3 songs recorded towards our new tape!

August 13th, 94, The Roadhouse, Manchester.
Line up: Velocity Girl, DLD.
J: Tiny dressing room, no food rider, but great sound and a good crowd. The guy that did the intro saw us in Northwich. Manchester's a cool city. I (Jack) got really wasted and started explaining Keynesian economic theory (sort of) because we were playing in Milton Keynes the next night. There was a guy who loved Bob Mould!

August 14th,94, The Woughton Centre, Milton Keynes.
Velocity Girl, DLD.
R: Good night because Jack Plug and myself (+ Jane) got to warm up for tonight's set with a spot of swimming and weight lifting! The gig was being held in a massive suburban leisure centre, with a big stage and lot's of pissed up kids. J: Frank broke the neck of the Gbsonofabitch by throwing it across the stage. Some girls were attracted to Jack/ but fortunately Frank alerted them to his unusual sexual preference. Bij, Dan, Jane and DLD then all joined in at shouting "Tristan! Tristan!" to remind Jack of about his absent lover. On the way home Frank pointed out how going to Milton Keynes is just like going to Cambridge. Whatever! There was a Gnarly in a S*M*A*S*H T-shirt who entranced AliMac & Glenn!

August 15th, 94, T.J's, Newport, Wales.
Line up: Velocity Girl, DLD and Gouge.
J: by this time we know Velocity Girl pretty well. We have sussed out that Jim speeds up radically in many of the songs, we've come to know the songs. Meeting them at the venue is a bit like coming into work. The venue has a low ceiling wit papier-mâché-caveness on the ceiling. We had a good sit-down meal with V.G. and their entourage. Bean+rice salad, some kind of casserole, green salad, and little bottles of 33 export. Gouge were good! Clear sound but the vocals were a bit low. Jane was along, selling T-shirts, Richard came& Zac showed up. Jack was wandering around silk shirt and jacketed. The guy that got mugged in Swansea was there. DLD did a lounge opening and a smoozy attitude before J.P. dropping his pants and overall punk rock explosion. This was the first night of the REALY BIG set lists (about 1/4 of the stage size). Had a good gig. V.G. were as usual, Sara looking particularly sexy in her silk thing. At the end of the night it became clear that we had drunk all of their rider

August 16th, 94, The Wedgewood Rooms. Portsmouth.
Velocity Girl, DLD.
J: -Good Meal: Chicken/veggie curry.
-4 Tracked w/ Zimmers
-J'P wiped out under drum riser.
-V.G.were pretty lame
-Ended the gig w/a big "Brian may" bow, holding hands.
-Crowd were OK
-Big boomy sound.
-Red room dimly lit.
-Big set list for jack again.
-Laminated backstage passes!

August 17th, 94, The Garage, London.
Line up: Velocity Girl, DLD, and Jale.
J: We brought Nick's Hondo along as a spare guitar. Rene's van got broken into. Bij said he had important people down to see us Play Well! 1st song -we're hitting the deck. The crowd was good/sound was good as can be expected at the Garage. JP broke a string and had to borrow a guitar off Jale, who's drummer AliMac found very Gnarly. We got food from the sandwich bar. A case of Beck's went down well, shared w/ Steve Strange and a joint. We hung around afterwards drinking beers, and talking w/ V.G.+ Jale, helping finish their beers, and (Glenn) helping them (Sara) find places to take a leak, before climbing into our super-deluxe mega van. We got cassette copies of the album, one of which we gave to Garret. We blasted the tape of the album and jumped around in the back while George navigated the van about 20 miles out of London, where it could break down and get relayed to Folkestone. F: Ah! Well! In the end we made it!

August 20th,94, The Underground, Koln, Germany.
Line up: Various bands.
F: What a great gig. Bij, George and Frank went walkabouts in Germany. Met Scott Mcloud (G'sVB's) at the Pop Komm fest. Jack, Ali & James were pretty worried of their errant guitarist & manager's absence, but to no avail, all showed up for a great night out! Rider was excellent, 1 beer for yourselves, 1 for the van. We ended up with about 40 bottles of beer for the remainder of the tour. Frank slept on the van roof (beautiful night). A game of let's escape from the Gestapo as afoot, followed by bundles along the high street etc. Frank lost his earring (Aaggh!) and cut open his arm breaking back into the "concentration camp" car park, James's short cut involved climbing over a wall full of broken glass (Oh well!) Frank loves Germany, such straight roads & beer in the service stations!

12th Oct.94 Cardiff, Club Ifor Bach,
supported by Gouge, and Rights of Passage.
J:Baked potatoes, cheese, French bread,Spanish omelette,Beer+soft drinks
filled Done Lying Down, before their fit of expulsive'performance'tonight.
We got to do a couple of Gouge songs in soundcheck, which they appeciated.
To kick it off, we did an interview with a dude and a couple of friends of
his, wich consisted of(1)Heading out to the van,(2) Smoking a spliff,and(3)
Talking a load of bollocks. We went back in to check out"Right up your
passage" and decided that they sucked.I think we're trying to book them on
the 2nd night of Suckfest '95. Gouge were great, as usual-a couple of
photographers were around to snap them. Sound was good in this, 3/4 full
small venue. When DLD played, Jack stripped down to the undies and got his
feet really dirty. AliMac had some snot problems. At the end of the night
Jack added to his increasing 'no-dough wardrobe' the inclusion of a small
pink Gouge t-shirt. we nicked an umbrella, and some raffle tickets.
R: Phew,Rock'n'Roll! F: Yeah Gouge were cool, Frank art had Gouge drawn on
his chest+Rock star on his back. Rider did'nt last long but early pints
were only a quid. Good time had by all...........

13th Oct.94, University of Anglia, Cambridge.
No support.
J: When we pulled in Jack had his mouth taped shut. We set up in the student
bar and did a shortish soundcheck. Then we retired to a Geology classroom
backstage and dined on sandwiches, veggie samosas, fish finger things and
onion bajees, w/Red stripe Lager. After the meal Bijacunt mentioned the tour
w/Ned's, and after a heated discussion and plenty of lists on the blackboard
we decided it would be more*fun* to mock them than it would be *embarrassing*
having to play w/them. the gig did'nt go so great. The sound sucked and the
kid'swere unenthused, until after the gig when one dude wanted to trade his
hat for my "Tootsie Roll" hat, and a chick wanted a contact no. and came
upstairs w/us. As it turns out there was a guy who was hitting on her and
got *really* defensive when JP started talking to her. The clincher of
course was when she left in our Van! Leila, Christine, and Claire were also
hanging out. Tonight was the first night of James'(Ricks') drum rotation.
45degree clockwise. the trusty Moonbus gave up 1/2 way home and allowed us
time to make a tape to Rut.

14th Oct,94. Old Trout, Windsor.
Supported by D-stroy and Substance.
R: Good turn out for our 3rd Old Trout appearance. Rick's mum showed up to
hear J.P.go off on a rampage and come out of the closet regarding his sexual
for Pigs at the end of "Birthday". D-stroy were Punk arse Fuck, and we did
an interview with some dude about Volvo. Thaat's it- next on the mic, Jack
Plug: J: The food was good. Veggie chilli rice. A fridge full of Labbatt's
ice, with a "beercicle" in the freezer. Sal from Fantasy-Y-Fronts was
hangin' out and decorated jack's enormous set-list. Frank fell off the stage
and stepped on someones head. Ali stepped off the side of the stage in the
2nd song 'oops! jack cut his leg and signed loads of flyers, set-lists etc,
with a bloodstain special. Rick had his drums rotated about 45 degrees anti
clock-wise.F: Good gig, good sound, good time, enthusiastic audience here
tonite! Good laugh backstage etc, with large rider+ Deadward was there as
well as Zac.
