Oct
15th, 94 The Forum, Tunbridge Wells
Supported by Smirkik and Sonar Nation.
J: The beer rider came from behind the bar as usual for this former
public
toilet. Smirkik brought their own sound engineer who helped them to
suck by
putting no bass in the mix. Sonar Nation ruled as usual The place was
full
and DLD took to the stage w/ jack wearing a pair of welding goggles
(could'nt see a fxxxing thing). In music Habbit Jack moved a large piece
of
metal from one side of the stage to the other. Why? Uhhh! I dunno. The
show
ended with an all out stage invasion. People getting up as if to stage
dive
but staying on stage. Chaos! Mayhem! Yaaa! James was trying to drum
while a
woman with large breasts invading his personal space. Glenn had to leave
the
stage due to lack of room, and distraction from Simon pokig his head
between Glenn's legs.F:Funny+enjoyable evening with stage invasion etc,
bouncers asked if we wanted the stage cleared, but everyone was having
a
good time, nothing malicious, so they stayed etc.
Oct
18th, 94 The Electric Ballroom, Camden
No support.
R: Continuing in their ability to cause bands to split up at the very
mention
of their name,DLD arrive at the venue to find that Headline band Levitation
had split the night before, giving them solid reason to cancel the gig-wusses
fuckin' pansies, no good, work-shy, long haired, mineral drinking SMIRKIKS!!
However we took to the job of headlinig the nights club like true pros.and
rocked tonights crowd to their pathetic, puny, indie rock feet. ERR,.......
Bollocks.
The soundcrew nicked most of our rider and we all (especially J.P.)
had a
damn good bop to the likes of Green Day+Elastica on the dance floor.
attempted
to go on stage an hour early, then went back to the dance floor eventually,
The gig went well and we got home early in time for milk+cookies.
J: Martin snogging, Melissa complaining, Steve sitting, Glenn making
like an
Alligator.
Oct
19th, 94 The Wherehouse, Derby
Support, Puressence.
R: A prime example of playing for ourselves and a few friends-not a
bad thing
Relaxed and at ease, DLD cruised through a well a well oiled and well
crafted
classic, hot rockin', bowl bustin', chicken shagging set of tunes. Oh!
and
Glenn decided to kick Ali's head in at the end of the set. Played "too
fast"
and "Punkture" for the first ti#$%MMMe(oop's Moonbus takes
a corner...),
well first time for "too fast", both sounded good. Most of
the audience was
made up of A+R and record company people(about 3O), who all left after
Puressence. Leaving us to play a set to Ali's sister and her friends.
one
who was very drunk+got into a surreal conversation with J.P. about how
he
hated Americans and that they were the the Scum of the world. We went
back to
his house and smoked his drugs just to prove it. Got fed well on snack
food,
J.P.+Rick made pack lunches.F: first time Andy came to see us!
Oct
2Oth, 94 Day Off! Ali's sisters place.
J: Woke up at Ali's sisters place, hung around watching Sesame St. and
showering. with Ali's sisters room-mate(Gnarly), and Lindsey and Mrs
Mac
we went to a pub for lunch. We had Yorkshire pudding, cheese rolls etc,
we went back to the house, got the Moonbus and loaded up+hit the road.
En
route, we were getting sick of all the trash on the floor-so we taped
all the
rubbish to the roof! We stopped and bought this book. We pulled into
Ian
Cheek's at 7:OO on the spot, just in time to watch her on Eastenders
on Top
of the Pops. We got on the guest list to see Shriek, Ash+Elastica.R:
RickO'
Shea was most impressed with both bands, especially with Elastica and
Shriek
they ruled!! Disjointed Punk Rock is the way forward.F: Good Chinese
from
Ian's local take away. But we looked like were going to rob the place,
with
F. Art wearing his shades+hat pulled down over his forehead.
Oct
21st, 94 carnegie Arts Centre, Workington.
Local Supports.
F: fucking great gig, very enthusiastic audience reaction(here of all
places)
Lot's of lovely Lake district scenery(Windermere,Mtns, etc,) Baked potatoes
and Beans as food rider+a couple of Newcie'browns each. Met Andy there
and
found that he was at the Derby gig, and he'd been waiting A year to
see DLD
but could'nt wait any longer so he drove to see us at Derby, was so
impressed
he came again.
J: The opening bands played cool covers and the kid's all moshed out. When
we
showed up and started to soundcheck we were told we had to stop because
they
were trying to audition ballet school next door.
Oct
22nd, 94 Radio Borders, Scotland.
Recording Radio session.
J: The scenery in scotland is really cool. They got, like, big mountains
and
shit. we passed through the Lake District too-not bad. When we arrived
at the
station the dude was'nt there! He'd totally spaced the whole thing!
So we had
to hang out for about 1/2 an hour until he showed, and *then* we had
to
figure out what the hell we were doing. We ended up doing Cracked,That
Makes
one of us, Wake us up and Glenn's been drinking. I'd say they were'nt
the
best ever performances but we had fun doing them, and we did lot's of
uncon-
ventional weird things: Guitar feedback, date+page rip solo, heavy breathing
telephone intro, distorted vocals. Overall it was pretty fun. Then we
packed
up and continued, stopping only to buy some food, on our way to the
hotel
in Stirling(sell-outs). We ate our food, showered, watched Alan Partridge
and Silence of The Lambs then crashed out!
Oct
23rd, 94 Cafe Drummonds, Abredeen.
Support, Bughouse.
J:Bughouse were pretty bad, it must be said. But so were we. the place
sounded
horrible! there were tables right up to the stage and people just sat
there
and drank their beers. No food rider, but we got 5 quid each. on the
way to
Aberdeen we stopped at Arbroath and climbed some cliffs. Jack Plug won
quid
off Ali and a blow job off Frank for walking along planks to a rock
in the
water. The gig was fairly full; someone requested "quit smackin......."
there were two women who chatted us up. One of them, Kelley, was after
james'
shlong in a big way. we made fun of him relentlessly and coaxed him
on (wanker)
Frank did some good table walking, Jack climbed a speaker stack and
AliMac
took over the vocals. A slight spray of beer over the crowd, and a note
in the
stairwell to Justin of Rosa Mota, expressed discontent at the evenings
performance. We went back to crash at Grant's(B.H.bassist)sisters place
and
stayed up too late in a dorm filled with young women who just looked
at us
funny. about 4 in the morning Gordon(B.H.drummist)started turning green
and
throwing up. They took him to hospital a.s.a.p. Food poisoning from
eating
red pudding.
Oct
24th, 94 The Venue Edinburgh
G'svB's headlining, DLD supporting.
R:Girls against Boys are the coolest band almost ever. Someone said
that we
were better than Girls against Boys-this person must have been retarded
or a
born liar. Still we played pretty well, although a little in robot mode.
J:The audience were kind enough to leave a little sem-circular clearing
in
front of the stage while we played. Before+after we did interviews-one
for
Sun Zoom Spark magazine.
F:Good gig this one. Very clinically performed. G'svB's rocked, Johnny
Temple
got Frank stoned before soundcheck with a pure grass joint. Andy was
again
present, he stayed with us at Richards sisters place got stoned+drunk
as
usual, used Scott Mclouds amp cool sound.
Oct
25th, 94 Oscars, Dundee.
Support: supposedly Dodgy but......
R:Dodgy are the biggest load of scum sucking parasites we've ever had
to
share a stage with.
A:Their tour manager's even more of a prick. The club was pretty cool.
people
danced a bit during our set. We hung out in the gay men's club backstage
before and after, drinking as much of Dodgy's rider as we could. The
rider
consisted of taking a group walk down to Lucifer's lounge and having
a really
nice meal w/the promoter,Keiron(promoter from Edinburgh),Grant(Bughouse
bassist),Andy(weird guy who follows us around).
J:We were interviewed for Sun Zoom Spark again uh........o.k.
F:I reckon we wiped the floor with those asswipes Dodgy(wankerbastardpuff
cuntin'twats). We left during Dodgy's set(cool) to retire to Keiron's
house
where we crashed out stoned. Frank and Rick travelled with Andy in his
car+
listened to some cool music on his car stereo, and came to the conclusion
Andy has good taste in music. Borrowed an Amp from Broccoli which unbelievably
was exactly the same as Frank's, except colour.
Oct
26th, 94 King Tut's Wah Wah Hut, Glasgow.
Support:Bughouse, Motor city.
J:Jack had the biggest set list *ever* tonight. We got the whole gig
on video
tape too. The guy that introduced us that night got on the Volvo tape.
We had
fun-see the the video!
A:We've started playing this game:What you do is you subliminally implant
a melody into somebody else's head. Then if they start humming/whistling
the
song later, you get a point(should be pint). It's best if the song is
really
lame-like "Uptown Girl" for example.
F:Great gig, Frank hurt his shoulder and had a good time bundling AliMac+
Rick, after Rick made his debut lead vox on "Heroes". Good
dressing room,
good(Becks) Richard, the guy who was at the Derby gig also turned up.
By
this time Frank had given up on his Amp+used Jack Plug's. Crashed once
again
at Keiron's where we met the New Bomb Turks who were also crashing there.
Once again we met up with Jean-Luc the sound guy/driver from our Jon
Spencer
dates earlier this year.
